L&T placement process 2014-2015:
Step-1: Pre-Placement Process
If L&T InfoTech is coming to your campus then you would be definitely notified by your TPO (Training and placement officer). First of all, you would be sent a softcopy of L&T Trainee application form and a self declaration form. Once you receive you need to take a print out of these forms. These need to be filled and submitted on your placement day. Also make sure you attach your photograph in the application form. And it is essential that you fill the form with BLACK ball pen. This is essentially the pre-placement process that every aspirant needs to do. This was what the process that was prevalent for 2014-2015 batch. Further L&T have their recruitment drive around September-October in Mumbai region. This is what the usual trend is.
Step-2: Placement Day
On the placement day it is essential that candidates carry following along with them
- Trainee application and Self Declaration form
- College-ID card
- Passport size photograph (2 is enough)
- Finally attested photocopies of all the certificates (Class-X, XII, All semester exam mark sheet copy) along with the original certificates.
Note: These are just the basic requirements; other requirements would be specified either by TPO or through email to you.
The recruitment process is usually a day long and ends around 8.00 or 9.00pm. About eligibility criteria it would be notified to you by your TPO. In Mumbai region L&T made eligibility criteria 55% (for 6 semesters if L&T is coming in 7th Semester) in the last moment. However the candidate needs to have an aggregate of 60% at the end of B.E. The recruitment process was open for Information Technology, Computer Science, EXTC, Bio-Technology, Mechanical and MCA students. Further top 15% of candidates from a particular branch are exempted from giving aptitude.
The recruitment process of L&T is quite different from TCS. Recruitment process consists of:
- Pre-Placement talk
- Online/Offline aptitude test
- Group Discussion
- Paragraph Writing
- Technical & HR Interview.
The whole of pre-placement talk is concentrated on what are the positions, hierarchy of the organization and all about L&T InfoTech history. This usually lasts for 30 minutes or so. After that L&T conducts Offline or Online aptitude. In my campus it was offline that is it was a paper based aptitude test. For aptitude preparation tips and techniques “Click here”.
Followed by aptitude the select candidates would be subjected to a group discussion (GD). Usually GD conducted by L&T consists of 10 to 12 members and is roughly for duration of 10-15 minutes. Again this is also an elimination round. Roughly 5 to 6 candidates are selected from 10 to 12 candidates subjected to GD. However the GD is entirely performance based and above figures is just an estimate. GD topics are usually abstract in nature. A list of selected candidates would be announced for paragraph writing.
However the paragraph writing is not an elimination round. And then the candidates are subjected to Technical Interview. Finally the candidates who have cleared the Technical interview are then subjected to HR interview. For HR interview preparations “Click here”. And by the end of the day that is around 8.00 or 9.00 pm the HR or the person in charge would announce a final list of selected candidates and a copy of list would be provided to your TPO (Training and Placement officer).
